Reality whispers stories. Then imagination creates a picture. The thousands of sketches are drawn before I choose the right one. It’s a really tough and long way.
I use thick glass plates prefabricated in glassworks or I cast them in ceramic blast furnace. I use a diamond graver to draw thin lines on these plates. Once every line is drawn it can not be changed. That’s why the incessant pressure is needed.
Some parts of sketch are drawn on transparent foil which, when connected with glass plates, give three-dimensional effect, contrary to flat graphics or engraving. This causes every work is unrepeatable and unique.
Every time I try to show character and specific properties of glass. Using quite simple (even primitive) tools – diamond saw, grinder stones I create a kind of frame which fetches charm and beauty of glass.
